RBI Deputy Governor

Sir James B. Taylor was the executive director of the RBI before being promoted to the post of Deputy governor. Due to health condition, Shri N. S. Vishwanathan was stepped down from his post and Rao appointed.

After Rao appointment, the RBI announced the portfolios of the four deputy governors. Risk monitoring, legal, inspection, enforcement and department of communication allotted to Mr Rao after his appointment to Deputy governor.

Monetary policy department as usual given to Deputy governor M D Patra, he also looks after the other department such as financial markets regulation, department of economic, deposit insurance and credit guarantee corporation, financial market operations and policy research.

Deputy governor M K Jain will take care of security cell, consumer education and protection department, department of supervision, human resource department, corporate strategy and budget department.

Deputy governor B P Kanungo will take care of currency management, IT, payment and settlement system, Right of information division, internal debt management department, department of government and banks account and secretary’s department.
