What is FASTag?

FASTag is a government-initiated program which works as a pre-paid instrument, it is first set up in 2014 between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. As of 2019, this technology has been set up and incorporated at the 420 national highways toll plaza. Government is working to enhance this technology and sooner will implement in the whole of the country and making it mandatory for all vehicle. As of now, 22 major banks offer FASTag.

FASTag is used to facilitate the toll system by using radio frequency identification technology, with the help of this technology user easily can pay toll plaza payment, being deducted from your account.

Benefits of FASTag

1. save fuel and time:  Vehicle with FASTag does not need to stop, toll plaza amount is deducted automatically.
2. SMS alerts for transactions: You get all the transaction details at your registered mobile number.
3. Online recharge:  You are not required to go anywhere, you can recharge your account online and enjoy the uninterrupted service on the highway. You can recharge your account using BHIM, NTGS, Credit and Debit card.
4. No need to keep cash: No need to carry cash for toll payments
5. Web Portal: You can access all the information regarding the transaction using FASTag customer portal
6. It has a validity of 5 years

Guideline and Standard Procedure for FASTag Affixation

Do’s

1. Remove the adhesive liner from the Tag sticker.
2. Install on the top middle of the windshield from inside the vehicle
3. Push the sticker gently on the windshield
4. keep the adhesive side facing outside.
5. Once the tag is fixed, do not try to unfix it or reposition it

Don’t

1. Don’t paste Tag on dirty/wet glass surface
2. If original adhesive is not sufficient then return it and get it replaced
3. Do not use any adhesive things to affix the Tag
4. Don’t try to peel off and reposition the Tag

How FASTag Work?

FASTag is directly linked with your account or prepaid wallet, the tag is affixed on the windscreen of your vehicle. While passing through the toll plaza, the payment automatically deducted from your Tag prepaid wallet, during such process, you are nor required to halt to pay your payment.

How to Get FASTag through Banks?

1. Log in to the bank
2. select the option of login
3. Click on first time user and continue
4. Fill in your necessary information and make the payment
5. Your tag gets delivered to your address.

Your Tag is valid for a minimum of five years, so you no need to worry about the annual renewals. when anything is required or happened regarding your tag, you get SMS notifications.

How can I buy FASTag and what documents are required?

There are various methods to get your Tag either you personally visit any of POS location at Toll Plaza to get your FASTag account created or call customer care number. What are the documents are required, check here

1. Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle.
2. Passport size photograph of the vehicle owner
3. KYC documents as per the category of the vehicle owner

What are the Charges?

FASTag has a one-time fee of INR 200 and it is refundable security deposit depends on the type of vehicle.
